Our October 2023 Newsletter is live! In this newsletter, we spotlight one of our schools who held a mock legislative session, highlight a new sponsor, and recap some October events that IACS was a part of!
School Spotlight: Tri-State Christian School Mock Government
“In 11th/12th grade U.S. Government class, students learned about the lawmaking process in detail. Students put their learning into action by participating in a Mock Congress: as Senators and Representatives. They wrote bills related to our school, presented them, worked through committees, debated them on the floor, and voted. After working through both chambers, several bills were presented to President [Principal] Rush for her signature or veto. She signed five measures into law, which we will be implementing at our school!”
ESA Vendor Applications Now Being Accepted
The Iowa Department of Education announced yesterday that they are now accepting applications for vendors wanting to offer services to ESA-recipients through the Odyssey Marketplace.
Iowa’s Students First Act Passes! Now What?
The “Students First Act” (House File 68), was signed into law by Governor Kim Reynolds Tuesday, January 24th. The bill passed the House by a vote of 55-45 and the Senate 31-18 the evening before. It was great timing as both chambers passed the bill and Governor Reynolds signed it during National School Choice Week.
Give The Gift Of Education
There are lots of investing opportunities in life. Savings, financial markets, business opportunities – but few opportunities have the impact of a great education, loving teachers, and schools responsive to their students and parents.
