Wrapping Up School Choice Week

January 25, 2019 By IACS

This week, hundreds of events across the country celebrated the diversity of school options available to parents currently and called on policy makers to make it easier for low- to middle-income families to make that choice too.  In Iowa, IACS is part of the Iowa Alliance for Choice in Education, which hosted a legislative breakfast at the Capitol this week with legislators meeting administrators from around the state and students from St. Theresa Catholic school and Ankeny Christian Academy.

There were dozens of stories in statewide and local media about school choice week but here are a couple from NW Iowa popping up on our news feeds and google alerts today:

Newton Christian School Celebrates 60th Anniversary!

September 19, 2018 By IACS

Newton Christian School’s first 8th grade graduating class with Bertha Brouwer, Principal

IACS Member school, “Newton Christian School,” is celebrating 60 years this year!

From Newton Christian School:

“In the 1950’s, parents of area churches had the God-given vision to form a Christian school in Newton.  They wanted the school day to be an extension of the values and truths their children were learning at home. Now sixty years later, the school has grown, but still seeks to fulfill the vision they outlined.  Two great grandchildren of the first principal now attend the school.  We are grateful for the godly legacy left by those early founders and thank God for his faithfulness to Newton Christian.”

Congratulations!  You can find out more about Newton Christian School on their website!

ICA Hockey Partnerships

Did you know that Iowa Christian Academy (ICA) in West Des Moines is the official school of the Iowa Wild AAA and Des Moines Buccaneers hockey teams? Iowa Wild AAA youth players attend ICA and the school supervises the studies of Buccaneers players still in high school.

ICA also has more than 25 students from foreign countries! Impressive for a school of ~200 students!
